In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by GfK on behalf of Samsung Business, 90 percent say that modern technology is an important tool in achieving success in educational programs.

This is the generation of digital natives, after all. However, the nationwide survey of K teachers revealed that while schools are putting more technology into classrooms, not enough is being done to ensure that teachers know how to integrate it into their lessons. Six in 10 teachers feel they are inadequately prepared to use technology in classrooms, according to the survey, and those over 43 express less confidence in their ability to harness technology effectively.

Make sure your in-person training sessions include ample time for teachers to use the technology. Have them create real lessons and activities to use with their students. This constructivist approach to professional development will help teachers see how technology will enhance their educational program.

It will also help them retain the skills learned in training because they will have used them for a real purpose. EN ES. Empowering teachers to implement technology-driven educational programs.

The advancement of technology is mainly responsible for this age of empowered consumers. Consumers are fully aware of the access businesses have to their data and therefore expect that knowledge to be used to their advantage.

Now that consumers have gotten a taste of their favourite brands catering to their interests and desires, personalisation has become the norm.

This, in turn, has shifted the power from brand to the consumer in the sense that a customer will gladly move on to a competitor should a brand display decreased attentiveness. With the advancement of personal-use technology, handheld devices such as mobile phones, tablets and even voice assistants enable consumers to perform a range of tasks on new channels every day.

Because 90 percent of consumers expect consistent business interactions across channels and 98 percent switch between devices on the same day, brands have no choice but to meet their customers wherever they are.

More than half of all internet traffic comes from mobile devices today, and mobile adaptability is a necessity for B2C brands as people become increasingly reliant on their smartphones. E-commerce mobile applications, in particular, provide consumers with convenient platforms for connecting with brands, researching products and facilitating purchase orders.

Businesses have begun to implement emerging technologies via a mobile interface to provide consumers with more engaging and personalised experiences. The integration of Artificial IntelligenceVR and AR technologies into mobile apps is a growing trend to provide shoppers with immersive shopping experiences.

Consumers can test out many products and offerings through virtual visualisations before making a purchase. These technologies also contribute to improved relationships between brands and their consumers and provide a more in-depth look into their brand processes.

Along with the demand for improved experiences comes the need for two-way conversational interactions between businesses and consumers. Creating these opportunities through automation, client and business to business scheduling tools have resulted in enterprises providing improved customer service in a variety of ways.

These intelligent bots are capable of providing customers with answers to queries, product recommendations and more through easy-to-use messaging apps. With the abilities to juggle multiple conversations at once, gain knowledge from customer interactions and identify consumer emotions, chatbots are an excellent customer service asset. This platform for instant communication allows brands to engage with consumers and address requests before they become actual issues.

Byvoice search will account for 50 percent of all searches. As intelligent home assistants grow in popularity, the convenience of voice search empowers consumers to search their queries handsfree and in their natural language form. But there is a growing emphasis on consumer empowerment and access to promote person-centered care. The first move for many was to implement a patient portal.

While a good step forward, patient portals are often more focused on the administrative functions of being a patient — scheduling appointments, paying bills and providing access to records.

To truly connect with a population, health systems need a multi-pronged approach to activate and empower consumers as active participants in their health and care.

One way to encourage higher personal involvement is by encouraging the use of mobile health applications and devices. Consumers use a variety of mobile applications and devices to track and manage their lives, from managing their finances and travel to staying current with family and friends on social media. In the same vein, there has been an explosion of health-related applications and devices in the market aimed at helping consumers better understand and manage their health.

From tracking steps, physical activity levels, diet and sleep patterns to calculating clinical measurements like weight, blood pressure and glucose, data from these connected devices flows into electronic health records in near real-time. These models of virtual health care empower consumers to manage their health and care in new ways. Person-centered care involves meeting the individual where they are — and for many, that means connecting with them when they're at work, at home or on the go.

Video visits are another element of virtual health care. These simulate traditional office visits in a more convenient environment for both the provider and the consumer. Video visits support improved provider-consumer communications for disease prevention, education, rehabilitation and more.

By reducing unnecessary costs and travel times, video visits can be of particular benefit to people with mobility issues, transportation limitations or environmental concerns. By making health care easy and accessible for consumers through technology, we're enabling them to be active participants in their health choices.

Devices and telehealth are only two ways in which consumers are proactively engaging in virtual health care technologies. Population health management is showing us that the future of the industry is person-centered care. It is an exciting and revelatory time to be working at the intersection of health and technology. Even companies outside of that space have shifted gears to produce necessities beyond their core product lines. In times like these, how do companies quickly roll out new procedures and safety standards across shifts and sites, validate that workers are executing them correctly, and be able to make further changes on a dime?

This is where digital work instructions and procedures that can be updated in real-time, with in-the-moment training and health, hygiene and social-distancing checks integrated into the procedures themselves, can help. Called connected worker technology, these types of modern, digital tools allow employees to connect with each other and to the information, systems and machines they need to improve safety, quality and productivity as they perform their work.

How Technology is Empowering 21st Century Consumers

As consumer goods companies and operations recover from the pandemic and rebuild, connected worker technology can support safety at scale. It can add safety measures directly into standard operating procedures, like reminders to wash hands, wear a mask or take a temperature.

It can ensure that shift handoffs on the factory floor are done with social distancing in mind: By tracking the real-time activity and progress level of tasks and procedures performed by workers, it can decrease and even eliminate the need for shift leaders and teams to talk face to face.

For consumer goods companies experiencing a surge in demand, connected worker technology can guide workers to perform their tasks accurately and efficiently, help them collaborate better with their peers, and give management insight into roadblocks or areas for improvements within processes.

This helps companies ramp up production with less human error and empowers their workers to perform to the best of their abilities and strengths. Connected worker technology empowers those on the industry front lines with both the tools and the peace of mind to get their jobs done as safely and efficiently as possible.

This passion to empower the worker is something that excites me. As a previous rig worker myself, the ability to resolve issues on the rig immediately is something I can relate to.

Earlier in my career, I was a rig worker. A drilling fluids specialist to be specific at a large oilfield services company. This lack of accessibility seriously impacted our operations.

Ultimately, our customers were the ones who were negatively impacted. I was assigned to a rig that was drilling exploratory wells in the Southern California Monterey shale. It was an exciting opportunity. I was the only Drilling Fluids Specialist on the rig for the entire two-week hitch.

I controlled the systems and treatments we used day-in and day-out. This new location was an out-of-date rig which created many more challenges compared to my former rig. It had lower operating capacity and the equipment regularly broke down. It was causing the solids contamination in our drilling fluids to exceed tolerable amounts.

This challenge was out of my scope and it would take at least 6 hours for the service company technicians to arrive. I had no solution and no answer for my team on when they could continue drilling.

I felt like I was letting my team and customers down. After the tech arrived to fix the issue, we were back up and running within 15 minutes. Later I discovered that it was a simple fix that I could perform once I had all the information. Working with the energy sector now from a different perspective, I see my experience echoed in various other business units in every organization.

I think of myself when I see these workers. Access to knowledge, teams, and even suppliers gives these workers a way to resolve the issue faster.

Instead of feeling defeated, my hope is that they feel empowered and can continue with their work. Digital transformation is bridging the gap between the physical worker and the digital world. New technology innovations such as Augmented Reality, wearables and IoT, enable workers to make smarter, data-driven decisions in the field.
